DescriptionThe Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of parent accounts for their designated Encompass center(s), which includes accurately billing families and 3rd party sources. A firm understanding and execution of all funding sources available to families is required. The Accountant works with the CFO to manage month end closing and Grant functions to ensure integrity of financial reporting.RequirementsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Ensures family data and child billing is entered into child care software accurately. Reviews attendance records and adjusts billing as necessary based on actual care used. Calculates monthly parent share for WI Shares families.Understands all funding sources available to families including 3rd Party sources, Encompass scholarship assistance and discounted employee child care. Executes billing functions associated with the applicable funding and determines family income and applicable scholarship assistance available.Communicates with Directors, families, or other team members regarding amounts owed by families, missing paperwork or other information, or any other issues with accounts.Assist with month end closing functions: including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, reviewing financial activity, and ensuring integrity of financial reporting.Manages the accurate posting and reconciliation of all incoming cash flow and processes EFT payments for families.Approval, tracking and reporting of expenses associated with the agency's grant funded programs and restricted donations.Analyzes and compiles child/family data for CIS and statistical information.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides back-up to other roles within the Accounting Department.Other duties as assignedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
