Key duties include:Recording and entry of cross‑functional accounting transactionsApproving general ledger accounting and payroll activities and reconciliations for General Financial Accounting and Grant Program Accounting including Cash, Federal, and State GrantsReviewing and creating journal entriesReviewing, coordinating, and correcting CDLE quarterly and year‑end diagnostic reporting to the State Controller's OfficeManaging fixed assets and capital assets, including processing entries for depreciation, additions, and deletionsProcessing transactions for general accounting and grant program expenditure, revenue, asset and liability accountsReallocating shared and direct costs to CDLE divisionsApproving ITI/ITA transactionsCompiling and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual reportingSupporting divisions and offices with budgeting, procurement, payroll, bank, and grant program accounting needsMonitoring and reporting general accounting and grant program fund allocations to keep accountants informedEnsuring conformance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulationsProcessing lease payments and encumbrance modifications as neededAssisting with procurement contracting services and collaborationPerforming accounting for state and federal fiscal year‑end closing activities and auditsManaging fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and schedule maintenanceDeveloping written checklists, policies, and proceduresPerforming other duties assigned by the supervisorResidency RequirementThis posting is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application.Class Code & ClassificationH8A2XX – Accountant IIMinimum QualificationsSix (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this positionOr a combination of related education (27 semester hours in accounting or auditing) and/or relevant experience equal to six (6) yearsCurrent, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy counts for six (6) yearsPreferred QualificationsPayroll accounting experienceTime‑Keeping and/or Universal Kronos Group application (UKG) experienceExperience performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employeeConditions of EmploymentMust be a Colorado resident at time of applicationMust pass a thorough background check, including the E‑Verify process, prior to employmentAppeal RightsApplicants removed from consideration may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board or request a review by the State Personnel Director.
