GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Accountant II - General Ledger will assist with the maintenance of general ledger functions and processes across the College. Will possess the knowledge to independently perform tasks including creation, verification, and execution of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation, and assist with month-end processing. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of information as it flows into the general ledger systems.

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure a thorough understanding of the general ledger practices to accurately create, verify, and execute general ledger transactions
• Manage the account analysis and reconciliations for assigned areas of responsibility including credit card activity, campus card liability, prepaid expenses and other various general ledger activity
• Monitor the Operating Equipment Protection Insurance program through detailed analysis to ensure timely and accurate transaction posting and reconciliation including expense approval and regular reporting.
• Manage the unclaimed property of the college requiring ongoing awareness of established federal and state regulations
• Provide assistance for month and year-end closing processes, and annual audits for the college and related entities.
• Perform other related work duties as assigned

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's degree in accounting or related field
• 2+ years related experience
• Experience with PC's and related software
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
