This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional who thrives in an organized, fast-paced, in-person office environment.This role supports the Controller in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of accounting and administrative functions, including Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general office coordination. Remote work is not available.ResponsibilitiesAs our Accountant / Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting daily office operations. Responsibilities include:Payroll ProcessingCollecting, sorting, and reviewing payroll ticketsProcessing and submitting payrollCertified Prevailing Wage Payroll experience is a plusAccounts PayableCoding invoices to correct job and account numbersPosting material tickets and utilizing internal spreadsheetsOrganizing open AP documentationFiling paid invoices in designated filing systemsScanning approved invoices to the public driveAccounts ReceivableInvoicing trucking, small excavating, toll road, and snowplowing jobsProcessing remote and Square depositsMaintaining and updating AR spreadsheetsApplying payments in accounting softwareManaging collections and sending AR statements monthlyBi-monthly collection callsSpreadsheet & Data ManagementCreating spreadsheets with simple formulasModifying existing spreadsheets as neededUpdating daily job assignment lists, rental rate sheets, and material increase lettersMaintaining accurate email and phone distribution lists(Experience with pivot tables or macros is a plus but not required.)Administrative & Office SupportAnswering phones and greeting clients and visitors professionallyOpening, routing, stamping, and scanning incoming mailOrganizing safety certifications, driver compliance files, and trucking permitsRequesting and distributing Certificates of Insurance (COIs)Ordering office supplies and stocking suppliesKeeping the office clean, organized, and presentableCreating and maintaining job folders and equipment filesScanning completed job files to the public driveAssisting with annual audit documentation preparationQualificationsKnowledge of basic accounting principlesExperience with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivableStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (creating and modifying spreadsheets with simple formulas)PC proficiency in a Windows environmentExperience with ComputerEase is preferred not necessaryHigh attention to detail and accuracyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesSelf-starter mentality with strong follow-throughProfessional communication skills and customer service experienceHigh level of integrity and dependabilityStrong sense of urgency and accountabilityAbility to resolve small issues before they escapePositive attitude and willingness to work collaborativelyReliable and committed to working in person dailyPosition DetailsJob Type: Full-TimeSchedule: Monday to FridayShift: 8-hour Day ShiftPay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour (based on experience)Benefits401(k)Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceESTAPaid HolidaysWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace.
