Job Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Clerk III to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining financial ledgers, reviewing financial transactions, and ensuring accurate account reconciliation across the organization. You will process invoices, resolve reporting discrepancies with operating units, and ensure all financial data strictly conforms to established accounting requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• General Ledger and Account Maintenance: Serves as a primary steward of the accounting system by maintaining journals and subsidiary ledgers. This includes the continuous balancing and reconciling of assigned accounts to ensure baseline financial accuracy and data integrity across all reporting periods.
• Transaction Management and Invoice Processing: Encompasses the full lifecycle of invoice and statement review. Responsible for verifying transaction information, ensuring that sufficient funds have been formally obligated, coding transactions accurately, and seamlessly processing these materials through the designated data processing systems for application into the master accounting system.
• Discrepancy Analysis and Resolution: Acts as a key troubleshooter for financial inconsistencies. This involves conducting in-depth analysis and reconciliation of computer printouts against operating unit reports, directly contacting submitting units to research the root causes of discrepancies, and independently taking the necessary corrective actions to ensure all accounts balance correctly.
• Quality Control and Compliance: Operating within a structured oversight framework, ensures all work meets rigorous standards for technical soundness and procedural conformance. While routine tasks are managed independently through built-in accounting control mechanisms, effectively leverage supervisory guidance to handle unusual, complex, or non-recurring transactions.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
• Any related certifications

Clearance Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
• A current Secret clearance is highly desired.
