Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnered with a ~$300M biologics/scientific instruments firm who is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. The Accounting Manager, General Ledger will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations across both consolidated and non-consolidated entities.
This role will also oversee and approve key financial calculations, including intercompany agreements, royalties, bonuses, and commissions, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Establish performance goals, set priorities, and assign responsibilities for the General Ledger team
Conduct performance evaluations, administer compensation adjustments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
Review journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities across multiple entities
Supervise the preparation of financial statements and management reports
Review account reconciliations and validate the accuracy of balances
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Perform and lead P&L variance analysis, providing insights to leadership
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Evaluate new accounting guidance and support implementation
Assist in maintaining and documenting accounting policies and procedures
Support and monitor financial internal controls
Supervise consolidation processes, including elimination entries
Review intercompany transactions and ensure proper elimination
Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Tax teams to maintain updated intercompany agreements
Review and approve intercompany, royalty, bonus, and commission calculations
Review debt compliance schedules for accuracy and adherence to loan agreements
Oversee revenue allocations for bundled performance obligations in accordance with ASC 606
Lead efforts to improve close processes, schedules, and systems
Ensure timely and accurate reporting
Support year-end audit activities and provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (MBA a plus)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public and/or corporate accounting; multi-national experience preferred
At least 2 years of management experience
CPA designation preferred
Must have strong Excel background Pivot-VLOOKUP
Strong knowledge of GAAP (government accounting experience is a plus)
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights
Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
Hands-on leadership style with a proven ability to build, develop, and manage high-performing teams
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
