Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a hands‑on and detail‑oriented Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of a mission‑driven non‑profit organization . This role will oversee key accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support grant tracking and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience, leadership capability, and proficiency in Bill.com and Sage Intacct .Key ResponsibilitiesManage the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial dataOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes , including review and approvalLead and execute the month-end close process , including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reportingPerform variance analysis and provide insights to leadership on financial performanceSupport grant accounting , including tracking revenue and expenses, preparing grant reports, and ensuring proper allocationsAssist with grant billing and compliance requirementsPrepare documentation and serve as a key point of contact for annual audits , ensuring timely and accurate supportMaintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policiesSupervise, mentor, and develop accounting staffIdentify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting operationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred)5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a non‑profit organizationStrong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles (including fund accounting and grant management)Hands‑on experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com (required)Experience managing month‑end close and financial reportingDemonstrated experience with audit support and grant tracking/reportingStrong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionallyProven ability to manage and develop a small team#J-18808-Ljbffr
