We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing organization in Northern New Jersey. This is a hands-on position for an accounting professional who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting activities while supporting broader financial reporting and operational needs.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a range of accounting functions, with a particular focus on billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule.
Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
Manage collection efforts and work to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with month-end close, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
Prepare and review internal financial reports.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Support annual audits and respond to requests for financial documentation.
Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues.
Maintain compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Prior accounting experience with responsibility for multiple areas of the accounting function.
Hands-on experience with billing, accounts receivable, and collections.
Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous public accounting experience.
CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
Experience working in a project-based or contract-driven accounting environment.
