Accounting Manager – Construction

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | In-Office
Compensation: $100K+ DOE

About the Role

A growing construction company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of the financial side of the business while working closely with ownership. We're looking for someone who understands construction accounting and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company's daily accounting operations.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and the general ledger.
  • Perform job costing and monitor project budgets and expenses.
  • Track cash flow and assist with financial planning.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and support the month-end close.
  • Coordinate with the outside CPA on year-end financials and tax matters.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, organized, and up to date.
  • Work closely with ownership to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with payroll, compliance, and other accounting-related responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Construction accounting experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financial processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of the accounting function.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
