    Description

    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with strong construction accounting expertise and deep proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, AIA billing, and ensuring accurate financial workflows between QuickBooks and Procore (preferred). The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on environment, is highly organized, and can support both accounting operations and general office functions within a growing construction business.
    Key Responsibilities
    Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Management
    • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, payroll, and bank/credit card reconciliations.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
    • Maintain chart of accounts, cost codes, classes, and job-level financial structure.
    Construction Accounting & Job Costing
    • Oversee detailed job costing, budget tracking, and committed cost reporting.
    • Manage WIP (Work-In-Progress) schedules, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
    • Monitor job profitability and support project managers with timely, accurate financial insights.
    Billing & Compliance
    • Prepare and submit AIA progress billings, owner invoices, and subcontractor pay applications.
    • Process lien waivers, insurance certificates, subcontractor compliance documents, and contract-related financial requirements.
    Systems & Workflow Management
    • Utilize QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition as the primary accounting system (required).
    • Oversee or support Procore QuickBooks financial integrations (preferred).
    • Assist with ERP, SaaS, and workflow improvements to optimize financial accuracy and efficiency.
    Process Improvement & Operational Support
    • Develop and document SOPs for accounting, reporting, compliance, and related workflows.
    • Support internal operations, office coordination, and cross-department communication.
    • Help the team maintain organization, structure, and accountability across financial processes.
    Required Qualifications
    • Expert proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition (non-negotiable).
    • Construction accounting experience-general contractor, specialty trades, electrical, low-voltage, or similar.
    • 4-10 years of full-cycle accounting experience in a construction or contracting environment.
    • Strong background in:
      • Job costing & WIP schedules
      • AIA billing & pay applications
      • Payroll (in-house or via provider)
      • Reconciliations (bank, credit card, balance sheet accounts)
      • Lien waivers & subcontractor compliance
    • Proven ability to manage or support Procore financial integrations.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and proactive.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with Procore Financials
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • SOP development and process improvement experience
    • Advanced Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, formulas)
