Description

Kforce's client, a mission-driven organization is seeking an Accounting Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid work schedule in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Summary: The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role will manage core accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, account reconciliations, financial close, and audit support. Key responsibilities include:
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions
  • Oversee accounts payable, payroll accounting, cash management, and related disbursement activities
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and regulatory filings
  • Develop and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, automation, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with financial leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, reporting, and special projects
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while managing workloads and deadlines
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented work environment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes
  • Experience coordinating external audits
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, payroll accounting, cash management, and account reconciliations
  • Experience developing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Experience leading, supervising, and developing accounting staff
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience with ERP or comparable accounting systems
  • CPA preferred
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
