The Department of Revenue for St. Louis County Government is seeking two (2) detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Services Specialists to join their team. This entry-level position is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting support functions including processing of large-scale transactions, analysis of account data, and preparation of summary reports within accounts receivable. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, strong accuracy in financial transactions, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Additionally, it is expected this role will have strong, independent decision-making skills, without need of close review by the manager and/or supervisor.
Upon selection, one candidate will be assigned to work in our North County location, located at Northwest Crossings in St. Ann, Missouri. The other candidate will be assigned to work in our South County satellite office, located at 4544 Lemay Ferry Road, in Mehlville, Missouri.
Typical work hours will be Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm CT. Scheduled hours may shift in December and January to support the year-end processing of property and personal property taxes.

Perform other duties as required or assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to three years of experience in an accounting related environment
Preference may be given to applications as follows:
Three (3) years of cash handling experience
The work rules for the Department of Revenue require all employees, whether they reside in St. Louis County or elsewhere, to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicants education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicants earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
