Position Title: Accounting SpecialistDepartment: AccountingLocation: Fenton, MOReports To: Accounting ManagerClassification: HourlySchedule: 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday Position Summary:The Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable is responsible for managing and improving the company's collections process to ensure timely receipt of payments for goods and services. This role requires an experienced AR professional who can independently handle complex customer accounts, resolve payment issues, and drive cash‑flow performance. Ideal candidates will bring 5–10 years of hands‑on AR collections experience within a manufacturing environment. Essential Job Duties:· Lead the full-cycle accounts receivable and collections process, including monitoring aging reports, proactively following up on outstanding balances, and reducing past-due accounts.· Engage directly with customers at all levels-including AP teams, buyers, and management-to resolve disputed invoices, payment discrepancies, short‑pays, and account issues.· Escalate chronic collection concerns and collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Customer Service, Operations) to resolve root causes.· Process customer credit card payments, apply cash receipts, and maintain accurate customer account records.· Maintain and update sales tax exemption certificates, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.· Prepare AR-related reports, metrics, and trends for management review.· Support periodic audits by providing detailed customer account information and documentation.· Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Controller to refine and reinforce accounting policies, internal controls, and workflow improvements.· Perform additional clerical and administrative projects assigned. Required Education:· High School Diploma/GED Required Experience/Skills:· 5–10 years of professional accounts receivable and collections experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.· Proven track record of successfully reducing past-due balances and improving collection performance.· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and assertively with customers.· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/ERP systems.· Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.· Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.· Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. About Control Devices, LLCControl Devices (or "CDI"), an HBM Holdings company headquartered in Greater St. Louis, is a leading designer and manufacturer of engineered flow control solutions in the compressed gas, compressed air, oil & gas, and liquid controls markets.
