Job Summary 

As a full-charge Accounting Specialist at Emerson & Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our clients’ businesses. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of critical accounting services to our small to medium business clients to free up their valuable time. You will manage the entire accounting cycle for multiple clients, from data entry to complex financial reporting and tax returns. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Record financial transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online or other accounting software
  • Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
  • Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records
  • Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables of cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses 
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable (based on client’s needs)
  • Reconciles or notes and reports discrepancies found in records
  • Create journal entries as needed
  • Completes Sales Tax analysis and filings
  • Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Proven 2+ years of experience in a full charge accounting role, preferably within a multi-client accounting firm.

Required Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Knowledge of technical accounting standards
  • Excellent computer skills, with the ability to navigate multiple software platforms efficiently
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work independently or as a part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills for account analysis and problem-solving
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
