This is a permanent position designed for a diligent, detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting and a passion for the construction industry. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, supervise and mentor accounting staff, and support corporate accounting, financial reporting, and the development and enforcement of internal control policies and procedures. Jobot has partnered with a well-established construction company in the Houston area to identify an Accounting Supervisor to join their growing finance team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys owning the general ledger, driving month-end close, and improving processes along the way.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Supervise, mentor, and review the work of accounting staff
Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements within the accounting function
Assist with the design and implementation of internal controls and standardized workflows
Support external audit requests and ensure compliance with GAAP
Collaborate with FP&A and senior finance leadership on reporting and process initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including construction, real estate, or project-based industries
Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
Strong understanding of GL accounting and month-end close processes
Demonstrated experience driving process/procedure improvements
CPA a plus, not required
Strong Excel skills; ERP/construction accounting software experience a plus
