Accounts Payable Accounting Associate

Compensation: $24.00–$27.00 per hour

A day in this role

At Thompson Pipe Group in Rialto, you start your morning organizing the day’s vendor invoices in the accounting system—categorizing to the right general ledger accounts, verifying three-way matches, and assembling scan-ready payment packets. As mid-morning arrives, you prepare the bi-monthly check run, queue weekly ACH submissions, and handle one-off portal payments. After lunch, you’re fielding vendor questions and collaborating with internal teams to research and clear discrepancies. Before you wrap, you record cash receipts, file supporting documents, and tackle month-end tasks—reconciling deposits and payments, confirming subledgers tie to the G/L, and reviewing key accounts. Each month you’ll also prepare and submit sales and use tax filings to state agencies, assist with annual 1099s, and compile documentation for auditors when needed.

What you’ll do

• Process high-volume AP invoices: sort, enter, code to G/L, and scan/file complete payment packets.
• Execute disbursements: bi-monthly check runs, weekly ACH requests, and portal-based vendor payments.
• Investigate and resolve processing issues with vendors and internal stakeholders; respond by phone, fax, and email.
• Record cash receipts and maintain organized digital documentation.
• Support month-end close: reconcile deposits/payments, validate subledgers to the general ledger, and review key balances.
• Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax submissions to state agencies.
• Assist with annual 1099 filings and provide audit support documentation.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Skills and experience

• Proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, and Adobe PDF (or similar).
• Meticulous attention to detail; strong organization and follow-through.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Comfort working both independently and within a team.
• Solid analytical and quantitative skills; strong research aptitude.
• Hands-on G/L coding expertise and three-way match experience.
• Proven ability to process a large volume of AP invoices daily while safeguarding confidentiality.
• Experience with Tradogram and Sage 100 ERP is a plus.
• 2+ years in an accounting clerk or similar AP-focused role is a plus.
