About the Position

Benton Roofing is looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable team member to join our accounting team as an Accounts Payable Specialist. This role is responsible for managing daily accounts payable operations, maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating vendor and subcontractor payments, and ensuring invoices and account balances are processed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounts payable experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Process and enter vendor invoices and financial data accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare, coordinate, and route bills for approval and payment.
• Review vendor statements for accuracy and approval.
• Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare and submit monthly state tax filings as required.
• Track and maintain accurate records of business account debits and credits.
• Monitor and manage supplier rebates to ensure the company receives all eligible credits and benefits.
• Process weekly subcontractor payments accurately and in accordance with established deadlines.
• Manage invoice approval workflows and follow up on outstanding approvals.
• Set up new vendors and suppliers while maintaining accurate and up-to-date vendor records.
• Communicate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal team members to resolve billing and payment questions.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and support accurate accounting records.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, payment procedures, and general accounting practices.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills, including telephone communication with clients, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and team members.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, remain organized, and prioritize tasks appropriately.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
• Dependable, proactive, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in financial matters.
