Accounts Payable Specialist

Clayton Services is searching for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a thriving company in the Houston area. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing the full accounts payable function, including invoice processing, vendor payments, reconciliations, expense reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires someone who can independently manage the day-to-day accounts payable process.

Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $28.00 $30.00/hour ($58,240-$62,400), depending on experience

Accounts Payable Specialist Responsibilities:

• Manage the full accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
• Set up and maintain vendor accounts in Intuit QuickBooks.
• Review invoices for accuracy, proper documentation, and required approvals.
• Process vendor payments, including checks and electronic funds transfers.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions, system reports, and accounting records.
• Maintain accurate accounting ledgers and post accounts payable transactions.
• Process employee expense reports through SAP Concur and reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
• Allocate expenses to appropriate cost centers and maintain accurate financial records.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and outstanding credit memos.
• Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation.
• Respond to vendor, employee, and management inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements.

Accounts Payable Specialist Skills and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of the full accounts payable cycle.
• Ability to independently manage accounts payable responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Strong reconciliation, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Intuit QuickBooks preferred.
• Experience with SAP Concur preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet payment deadlines.

Accounts Payable Specialist Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounts payable experience required.
• Experience independently managing invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, and AP records required.
• Experience with vendor account management and employee expense reporting preferred.
