We are partnering with an established organization in the Alexandria, OH area that is looking to add an Accounts Receivable Lead to its accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys developing a team, digging into complex billing issues, and finding better ways to get the work done.
The Accounts Receivable Lead will oversee day-to-day billing activity while continuing to stay involved in the work itself. This person will help ensure invoices are accurate and timely, client billing requirements are followed, and issues are quickly communicated and resolved across departments.
What You'll Do
Lead and support a team of billing professionals, including coaching, training, workload management, performance feedback, and day-to-day guidance.
Oversee the billing cycle from data collection and invoice preparation through client portal submission, ERP entry, credit processing, and invoice tracking.
Step in to manage more complex billing assignments, troubleshoot discrepancies, and assist with workload or backlog when needed.
Review billing activity for accuracy and contract compliance while partnering with operational and project teams to resolve issues.
Monitor billing and WIP-related data, identify errors or areas of risk, and ensure documentation is maintained to support reporting and audit needs.
Evaluate current billing procedures and workflows, recommending process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
What We're Looking For
At least 4 years of previous billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience, ideally with some leadership or supervisory responsibility.
Strong understanding of billing processes with the ability to research discrepancies and identify the root cause of issues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems, client billing portals, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on billing work in a fast-paced environment.
