LHH is partnering with a growing company in North/Northwest Houston seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist for an immediate temp-to-hire opportunity. This position is heavily focused on high-volume cash application, payment posting, reconciliation, and research rather than traditional collections.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience applying ACH, wire, check, and credit card payments and be comfortable researching payment discrepancies, short pays, fees, and unapplied cash.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and apply a high volume of daily customer payments, including ACH, wires, checks, and credit cards

• Accurately apply payments to the appropriate customer accounts and invoices

• Process and reconcile financing transactions and third-party funding

• Review remittance details and research unapplied or unidentified cash

• Handle cash application for retail/customer accounts, including payments involving fees and deductions

• Identify and properly code short payments and overpayments

• Reconcile daily payment batches to bank deposits and resolve discrepancies

• Ensure cash receipts are coded to the appropriate general ledger accounts and business units

• Coordinate with field teams to finalize invoice batches and ensure revenue is ready for posting

• Assist with AR responsibilities during month-end close

• Maintain compliance with established AR processes, internal controls, and fraud-prevention procedures

• Support process improvements designed to increase cash application accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Accounts Receivable experience, ideally with significant cash application responsibilities

• Experience working in a high-volume cash application or centralized accounting environment

• Strong understanding of payment application, remittance research, reconciliations, short pays, deductions, and unapplied cash

• Experience with an ERP/accounting system; Sage and/or ServiceTitan experience is a plus

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet daily posting and reconciliation deadlines

• Excellent problem-solving and research skills

• Ability to professionally communicate with accounting, finance, and field operations teams

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

• $26-$30/hour, depending on experience

• Temp-to-hire opportunity

• 100% on-site

• Flexible schedule options, with employees starting no later than 9:00 AM

• Some overtime may be needed around month-end close

The intake confirmed that the position is 100% on-site, with flexible schedules such as 7-4, 8-5, or 9-6. The hiring manager also noted that overtime is generally concentrated around month-end and is typically about 4-5 hours during those weeks. Sage is used for accounting and ServiceTitan is also used by the team.
