Job Purpose:

  • The Activities Coordinator at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities for clients. The role aims to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals by providing engaging and meaningful experiences that support their recovery and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate a diverse range of activities tailored to the needs and interests of clients, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate therapeutic goals into activity planning, aligning with individual treatment plans and objectives.
  • Schedule and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly activity programs, ensuring a balanced mix of recreational, educational, and therapeutic opportunities.
  • Facilitate group sessions and individual activities, providing support and encouragement to participants to foster engagement and participation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs, gathering feedback from clients and staff to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity participation, progress, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage resources, including equipment and materials, to support the delivery of high-quality activities, coordinating with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers and support staff involved in activity programs, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Promote a safe and positive atmosphere for all activities, adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols.
  • Engage with clients and their families to encourage participation and inform them about the benefits and goals of the activity programs.

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in Recreation, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in organizing and coordinating activities within a behavioral health or similar environment.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges or developmental disabilities.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful activity programs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills to effectively coordinate a variety of activities and events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to motivate and engage individuals in activities that promote socialization, skill development, and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for scheduling, reporting, and communication purposes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and needs.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations related to recreational activities.
