Assist in planning, organizing and implementing therapeutic group and individualized activities throughout the campus. Transports residents to and from activities and outings. Maintains bulletin boards and holiday decorations. Assist with monitoring, cleaning, maintaining and purchasing activities equipment. Assist in attending plan of care meetings and observes, records and reports on resident's condition. Assist with completing paperwork, documentation and assessments related to the plan of care and MDS. Assist with and setup for scheduled activities, including set up and food requests. Participates in continuing education programs, professional workshops and mandatory in-services. Consults with the Director of Life Enrichment in the budget process. Regularly greet residents by name in a friendly manner. Use positive body language as a means of communicating with residents (i.e. smile, gentle touch, peaking from the front, appropriate tone of voice and at eye level during each interaction). Deliver and receive feedback to others in a respectful manner. Use positive facial expressions and effective body language when talking to peers. Consults with other staff (nurse's, RA's, Rehab, social worker etc.) when faced with a difficult situation. Share successful interventions with other team members. Responsible for staffing some evening, weekend and holiday activities. Activities Staff of WHV need to have knowledge that the Jewish holidays fluctuate due to nature of the Jewish Calendar. Some flexing of work week hours may be necessary to cover occasional evenings and weekends. Also, because of the connection with the Jewish community, Wexner Heritage Village requires coverage during the holidays and festivals. If an activities personnel needs time off, working around the Jewish calendaring schedule will be an essential consideration as part of your role. If time off is necessary due to personal circumstances, a plan must be in place before time off is initiated.
