Job Description

Supervisor:

Activities Director

Qualifications:

High School education required. Previous experience in a Long-term Care of Residential setting preferred. Special talents, such as handicrafts or ability to play a musical

instrument preferred. Ability to read, write and speak he English language.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this positioin is to assist Activities Director in implementing an on-going program of activitites designed to meet the interests,

physical, mental, and psychosocial well being of each resident in accordance with the interdisciplinary assessment: current federal, state and local

standards, guidelines, and regulations: facility policy and procedure; and as directed by the Activity Director. The position of Activity AIde is flexible, covering

both the Nursing Unit and the Assisted Living area at the discretion of the Activity Director and Administration and may require change in scheduled work

times due to department needs.

Functions:

Abilty to research/create and assist in the implementation of a program for individual and group activities based on residents' needs.

Ability to implement Reality Orientation on a one-to-one basis.

Abilioty to conduct room visits, assist in the implementation, and documentation of in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.

Ability to research.create and assist in the implemetation of diversioinary activities.

Ability to research/create and perform evening and weekend functions as necessary.

Ability to identify resident activity interests, needs, and problems and to forward such information to the Activity Director as required.

Ability to coordinate activities and work with other departments as necessary.

Ability to transport residents to and from activiteis in a safe, effective, and courteous manner. (Includes the ability to assist in transporting residents in the facility van.)

Ability to assist in training and supervising facility volunteers.

Ability to maintain daily activity attendance records, provide input into monthly activity calendar and assist with other reports as requested by the Activity Director.

Ability to maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs and to notify the Activity Director when supplies are low.

Ability to accept assigned duties in cooperative manner.

Ability to be responsible for the safety of resident under his/her supervison.

Ability to follow Resident's Rights policies at all tiems, including the right to confidentiality.

Ability to observe facility policy and procedure, especially with regard to safety and infection control.

Ability to review department policy and procedure, at least annually, and to participate in making recommended changes.

Ability to take part in in-service education and attend all in-service sessions as required.

Ability to attend and take part in staff meetings as required.

Ability to assume accountability for data contained in the employees' hanbook.

Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of a mechanical device):

Must be able to move intermittently throught the work day.

Must be able to cope witht he mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prothesis that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Must function idependently and have flesibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, families, personnel and support agencies.

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emptionally upset, and at times, hostile people wihin the facility.

Must be able to transport residents in wheelchairs, gerichairs, and on food, safely and in accordance with facility policy.

Must be able to lift and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) punds.

Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

Requirements:

Previous experience in Recreation Department in a LTC environment is aMust.

Compliance with applicable health laws and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations.
