Job Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for activities involving expert inpatient coding of medical records as a mechanism for indexing clinical information used for research, utilization, appropriateness of care, compilation of statistics for hospital regional and government, and accurate reimbursement. Identifies and reports coding opportunities and recommendation for improvement. Monitors and reports trend and escalates discrepancies to management.
This position requires residency in Clark County, NV. If you're not local to Clark County NV, candidate willing to permanently relocate to within Clark County Nevada, if offered the position.
This position is remote, after successfully completing the probationary period of approximately 6 months. Candidate should be willing/capable to work on-site daily (M to F) between the hours of 7 AM to 4:30 PM, with the first 2 weeks work hours assigned 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
  • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
  • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
  • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD 9-CM, ICD10-CM/PCS, and Medicare hospital and
  • IPPS coding and reimbursement regulations and MS-DRG classification structure
  • Experience with 3M 360 or similar encoder/computer assisted coding systems.
  • Knowledge of EHR systems, coding audits, denials, queries, and revenue cycle processes.
