Adjunct- Clinical Nursing Instructor
 
Salary: $46.00 per hour
 

Position Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing and the Nursing Program Manager, the Adjunct Clinical Nursing Faculty provides clinical instruction and supervision to nursing students in assigned healthcare clinical settings. This position is not a classroom or theory teaching role. This position is intermittent with designated weeks scheduled throughout each semester. The successful candidate is responsible for facilitating student learning in the clinical environment, evaluating clinical performance, ensuring patient and student safety, and maintaining compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN), ACEN, and College policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides Clinical Instructional Services:

• Provide direct clinical instruction and supervision to nursing students at assigned clinical sites.

• Orient students to clinical agency policies, procedures, expectations, and safety requirements.

• Facilitate application of nursing theory to clinical practice using learner-centered teaching strategies.

• Supervise and evaluate student performance in clinical skills, critical thinking, professionalism, documentation, and patient care.

• Ensure safe patient care and intervene as necessary to protect patient, student, and staff safety.

• Maintain appropriate clinical faculty-to-student ratios in accordance with OBN requirements.

• Collaborate with clinical site staff to support student learning and ensure positive clinical partnerships.

Student Evaluation and Documentation:

• Communicate clinical course outcomes, objectives, and expectations to students.

• Evaluate student clinical performance using established evaluation tools and grading criteria.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including attendance, performance evaluations, and incident reports.

• Submit clinical evaluations and grades by established deadlines.

• Identify students experiencing difficulty and communicate concerns to nursing leadership.

• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student success.

Program and Department Responsibilities:

• Participate in required department meetings, orientation, and compliance activities.

• Assist with clinical course and outcome evaluation as requested.

• Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice standards and clinical competencies.

• Engage in continuous professional development related to nursing practice and clinical education.

• Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and clinical partners.

• Maintain a safe working and learning environment at all clinical sites.

Qualifications

Required:

· Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.

· Minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse.

· Current, valid, unencumbered Ohio RN license.

· Baccalaureate degree in nursing or enrollment in a graduate nursing program.

· Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, and technology skills.

· Positive attitude and attention to detail.

· Documentation of MMR and Varicella titers or completed immunization series.

· Maintain current CPR certification and TdaP immunization.

· Commitment to complete agreed upon clinical rotations.

· Completion of nursing department and clinical site onboarding requirements in a timely manner.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in nursing.

• Prior clinical teaching experience.
