SUMMARY:

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach three semester credit hours per 7-week term in the fully online competency-based education (CBE) format supporting the CBE Orientation Courses.
  • Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours and provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.
  • Facilitate courses by adhering to the standard course syllabus as provided by the Assistant Dean.
  • Monitor undergraduate-level orientation courses for CBE programs and provide weekly status reports to advisors.
  • Develop and maintain teaching materials (e.g., syllabi, course content, question libraries, etc.).
  • Prepare and evaluate course assignments and examinations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Terminal degree in public safety or closely related field with 18 hours in field/subject area OR Master's degree in public safety with terminal degree in closely related field.
  • Experience: NA
  • Knowledge / Skills: Proficient with computers and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Work with minimal supervision.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: NA
  • Physical Requirements: NA
  • Other Requirements: Position will require work after business hours and on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.
  • College or University teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working with varied student populations.
  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
