Adjunct Faculty, English (Future Opportunities)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of English seeks a dynamic, supportive writing practitioner to teach developmental and college-level writing courses. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Skills:

• Plan, develop, present, and modify courses from proposal, to syllabus, to delivery (classroom, hybrid, or online), to assessment, to evaluation.

• Teach assigned courses

• Convey knowledge and skills effectively to students.

• Continue professional development as an educator.

• Use advanced technologies to expand student resources and learning opportunities.

• Participate in departmental/program assessment of student learning according to best practices in measurement of student performance objectives and outcomes.

• Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in pedagogical approaches to a diverse population of students and peers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in English, Writing, Composition, Rhetoric, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution

• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in Adult Basic Education (ABE), community college, ESL/ESOL, developmental/remedial education, or equivalent settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, or Professional Writing

• Experience teaching writing to a diverse student population, including underprepared, first-generation, or non-traditional learners

• Familiarity with integrated reading/writing pedagogy and current best practices in developmental or corequisite writing instruction

• Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and online or hybrid course delivery

• Demonstrated commitment to student-centered instruction and evidence-based assessment practices
