Bethune-Cookman University Title: Adjunct Instructor of Humanities (Part-Time) Division: College of Arts and Humanities Reporting Structure: Chair, Department of English, World Languages, and Cultural Studies Job Summary The Department of English, World Languages, and Cultural Studies invites applications for Adjunct Instructors of Humanities to teach undergraduate Humanities courses beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. The Department of English, World Languages, and Cultural Studies is committed to excellence in teaching, interdisciplinary inquiry, student success, and community engagement. As the department enters an exciting period of renewal and curricular innovation, we seek dedicated educators who are enthusiastic about joining a collaborative academic community and contributing to student learning. We seek instructors who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and who can create engaging, student-centered learning environments that support students from diverse educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including first-generation college students. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and the ability to foster critical thinking, discussion, and intellectual curiosity in the humanities classroom. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate Humanities courses, particularly HU 225: Humanities, with additional teaching opportunities based on departmental needs and the candidate's qualifications. Adjunct appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, with teaching assignments determined by enrollment and departmental needs. Essential Functions
