Job Description

Sussex County Community College is currently looking for part-time Adjunct Professors to teach courses within the Welding Program.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of basic welding and cutting processes, including, but not limited to: Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Plasma cutting and Oxy-Acetylene cutting.
  • Must be proficient in executing welding and cutting processes listed above.
  • Must have basic technical knowledge relating to metals, metal working and related welding processes.
  • Must be able to construct lesson plans with minimal guidance that coincide with specific Course Learning Outcomes, as summarized in the Course Syllabi.
  • Willing to contribute time before or after class to prepare materials and lesson plans, maintain/enter grades in our online system (as necessary), communicate with students (as necessary) and maintain contact with fellow department members.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of safety measures and proper PPE use in welding related applications.
  • Must be willing to strongly enforce proper safety protocol and proper equipment handling and use as well as proper maintenance of both machines and shop area.
  • Must be comfortable working both one-on-one and with groups of students.
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings, as required.
  • MUST be available for day shifts (anywhere from 8-12:30 or 12:30-5:15)
  • Please note - this is a part-time position.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in the welding field.
  • Certifications/Qualifications recommended, but not required.
  • Degree in applicable field also considered.
  • Technical and computer proficiency is highly recommended.
  • NJ, NY, and PA residence recommended.

Prior Higher Education teaching experience and teaching experience at the community college level is strongly preferred.

The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or a similar learning platform is preferred.

Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit hour.
