Summary

The Nursing Part-Time Faculty reports to the Associate Dean, Pre-Licensure Nursing and Dean, School of Nursing. The faculty member plans, organizes and teaches the pre-licensure curricula then provides timely assessment throughout the semester and outcomes at the end of each semester. The faculty will follow course content, provide students with timely feedback, improve student learning outcomes and participate in the systematic plans of evaluations. Participates will adhere to Regis College's values and mission while also incorporating accreditation and professional criteria. The faculty will participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies to promote achievement of student learning outcomes. The faculty will maintain discipline specific professional membership, may participate in college meetings, and actively engage in service and scholarly activities.

Essential Functions

Manage classes and learning environments:

  • Maintain attendance records, submit grades on time, and provide constructive feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Create and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate department, program, and college requirements.
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate materials to support academic departments' course curriculum in accordance with professional guidelines.
  • Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Collaborate with instructional design for all course/ course development issues.

Deliver effective instruction:

  • Assume primary responsibility for and exercise oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with college policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction.
  • Consider individual differences of students in order to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
  • Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicate clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
  • Use a variety of techniques to assess student learning as applicable by academic discipline and specific course.
  • Integrate concrete, real-life situations into learning experiences to encourage critical thinking, interdisciplinary skills, and teamwork.
  • Employ methods that develop student understanding of discipline-specific thinking, practices, and procedures, as well as interdisciplinary applications, to create academic literacy.

Other Responsibilities

  • Problem-solve and provide course oversight while maintaining an ongoing, professional, clear, and consistent communication with students, Program Directors, Associate Dean or Assistant Dean in Nursing, and others as necessary through various modalities including electronic email, telephone calls, text messages or virtual meetings.
  • Adhere to Regis College's policy for faculty course presence, grading turnaround time, and student response time.
  • Maintain and attend required office hours.
  • Maintain expertise in both in person and online teaching methodologies.
  • Complete end-of-course evaluations.
  • Attend all Adjunct Faculty mandatory meetings called by Course Coordinator and others, as requested.
  • Complete midterm and final grade reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide students alternative learning experiences.
  • Hold group meetings, drop-ins, and study groups for students as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree, required, earned doctoral degree, preferred.
  • Registered Nurse in Massachusetts with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Commitment to community and professional service.
  • Serves as a College and Program advocate for faculty, students and external professional organizations.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.

Compensation: $1,535.87 per credit
