Alvernia University invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach Medical Physiology within the Master of Medical Science Physician Associate (PA) Program in the College of Health Sciences.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in graduate-level medical physiology, emphasizing the integration of physiological principles with clinical application to support physician associate student development. The course content will focus on the normal function of human body systems and the application of physiological concepts to understanding disease processes, clinical assessment, and patient care. The instructor will foster an engaging, collaborative, and student-centered learning environment that supports student success within the PA curriculum.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach Medical Physiology within the Physician Associate Program in accordance with approved curriculum objectives and course learning outcomes.
- Deliver graduate-level instruction through evidence-based teaching strategies, including lectures, case-based learning, active learning activities, and other instructional methodologies.
- Integrate foundational physiology concepts with clinical applications relevant to physician associate practice.
- Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments that measure student achievement of course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
- Maintain accurate course records, including attendance and grades, in accordance with University policies.
- Collaborate with PA Program faculty to ensure curricular integration, appropriate sequencing of content, and continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in course evaluation and revision processes as needed.
- Maintain compliance with University policies and applicable accreditation standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, Anatomy and Physiology, Medicine, Physician Associate Studies, or a closely related health sciences discipline.
- Experience teaching medical physiology at the graduate and/or professional level is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in human physiology and its clinical application.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to excellence in graduate health professions education and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree (PhD, MD, DO, DSc, DMSc, EdD, or equivalent) in a related discipline.
- Experience teaching physiology within a Physician Associate, medical, nursing, or other graduate health professions program.
- Experience integrating case-based instruction and active learning strategies into graduate-level courses.
- Familiarity with curriculum assessment and continuous quality improvement processes in health professions education.
