    Summary

    Job Summary

    The Administrative Director of Imaging Services provides senior‑level leadership and oversight for all Diagnostic Imaging services, including Diagnostic Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Mammography, and any other modality. This role is responsible for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and strategic growth, leading large, complex, enterprise-level initiatives, and advancing innovative operational and clinical solutions. The Administrative Director of Imaging Services serves as the executive‑level leader responsible for departmental direction, supporting hospital‑wide initiatives, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

               

    Minimum Job Requirements

                Work Experience

            Seven years of progressive leadership experience in Diagnostic Imaging or hospital clinical operations, with proven success overseeing multi‑modality teams and departmental performance. Strong background in regulatory compliance, financial management, capital equipment planning, and quality‑improvement initiatives, along with extensive knowledge of imaging modalities such as Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and executives while driving large‑scale operational improvements, service‑line growth, and strategic planning efforts.

               

    Licensures/Certification

    Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) credential from the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) preferred.

                Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) credential preferred.

                American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred.

               

     Education and Training

    Associate’s degree in applied sciences from an accredited school, or equivalent program in Radiology, or Nuclear Medicine, or Ultrasound required.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Radiological Science, or Business or Healthcare Administration required.

    Master’s Degree in related field required.

     

    Skills

    1. Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic imaging operations, including Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography.
    2. Deep understanding of federal and state regulatory requirements, including Texas Department of Health radiation control standards, equipment licensing, and accreditation processes (ACR, Joint Commission).
    3. Strong knowledge of healthcare financial management, including budgeting, productivity metrics, cost‑containment strategies, and capital planning.
    4. Familiarity with imaging technology trends, equipment lifecycle management, and vendor contract negotiation.
    5. Knowledge of quality‑improvement methodologies, patient‑safety standards, and performance‑measurement systems.
    6. Advanced leadership and management skills, with the ability to direct directors, managers, and multi‑disciplinary teams.
    7. Strong analytical skills for interpreting operational, clinical, and financial data to support strategic decision‑making.
    8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with physicians, executives, and cross‑departmental teams.
    9. Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and leading large‑scale operational initiatives.
    10. High‑level problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate complex operational challenges and regulatory requirements.
    11. Proficiency in developing and implementing policies, workflows, and performance‑improvement initiatives.
    12. Ability to lead a large, complex imaging service line with vision, accountability, and operational discipline.
    13. Ability to ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards across multiple imaging modalities.
    14. Ability to manage multimillion‑dollar budgets, evaluate financial performance, and make data‑driven decisions.
    15. Ability to oversee capital equipment planning, including technology assessment and long‑term investment strategy.
    16. Ability to foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
    17. Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, hospital leadership, and external partners to advance departmental goals.
    18. Ability to anticipate future service needs and develop strategic plans to support growth and innovation.
