Responsibilities:
- Perform clerical duties in maintaining patient medical records, including compiling, sorting, filing, collating, copying, scanning, locating, verifying, completing, uploading, and transporting confidential information.
- Review outpatient Cardiology Clinic schedules and conduct chart reviews for appropriate records for upcoming appointments.
- Contact patients and outside medical facilities to obtain outside records or images.
- Complete medical records requests, information release, transcription (electronic release), reception, and Master Patient Index.
- Check in/out patients for appointments, schedule appointments and procedures, and handle incoming phone calls for the medical practice when applicable.
- Review clinic schedules and medical charts to ensure appropriate records are available for new Cardiology patient visits.
- Process provider/nurse in-basket medical record requests by requesting and obtaining records from outside facilities.
- Process, scan, and upload medical records from electronic and paper forms.
- Transcribe external referrals and attach referral packets to referrals within Epic.
- Request and upload medical images to Powershare or ISCV from outside facilities.
- Clear fax box hourly, processing and distributing to appropriate staff.
- Contact patients and medical facilities for medical record information.
- Create and mail image requests on a CD to patients and outside facilities.
- Manage, send, sort, and distribute clinic, provider, and personnel mail.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of three months of clerical or general office support experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous work history in a medical records department, medical practice, or translatable job experience.
- Experience with Maestro Care EMR.
- Customer service experience.
