SUMMARY:
- Utilizes the principles of management, philosophies, policies and goals of the institution and nursing department to ensure consistent, high quality patient care.
- Assumes administrative responsibility to maintain smooth, efficient hospital functions.
- Utilizes the principles of the nursing process to provide for continuity and quality of nursing care administered to a specific group of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care departments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Requires basic knowledge of nursing.
- Graduate from accredited nursing program.
- Preferred BA, BS or BBA with a major in nursing, health care administration, business administration, or psychology.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of experience in Staff Nurse with Charge Nurse or Assistant Nursing Manager role to acquire skills and knowledge of the job is preferred.
License:
- Current New York State R.N. license.
- BLS required
PHYSICAL & MENTAL FACTORS:
Physical:Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a routine basis and frequent lifting of moderately heavy items, i.e., 20-40 lbs.
Mental:Nature of work frequently requires considerable or heavy workload, highly irregular, and unpredictable long hours, placing heavy demands on home and/or social life; and there may be considerable work pressures requiring delicate or potentially serious matters.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to occupational hazards or contagious disease which requires routine precautions.
