The Panther Group is seeking skilled Advanced Solder Assemblers to support a growing electronics manufacturing operation in Clearwater, FL.

This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience soldering and assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) in a production environment. We're looking for professionals who take pride in precision workmanship, understand IPC standards, and are committed to producing high-quality electronic assemblies.

This is a long-term contract opportunity with potential for permanent hire.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform manual soldering and assembly of electronic circuit boards and components.
  • Assemble and solder both:
    • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components
    • Through-hole components
  • Work with a variety of component types, including:
    • BGAs
    • QFNs
    • CSPs
    • Fine-pitch electronic components
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify solder defects and quality issues.
  • Utilize microscopes, inspection equipment, and other quality tools as needed.
  • Interpret and follow:
    • Work instructions
    • Assembly drawings
    • Manufacturing documentation
    • IPC standards
  • Verify materials, solder paste, and flux meet required specifications.
  • Support process improvements and provide feedback on tooling, procedures, and assembly methods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Follow all company quality, safety, and ESD procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of electronic assembly and soldering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with SMT and through-hole assembly.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards, including:
    • IPC-A-610
    • IPC-J-STD-001
  • Ability to solder and inspect a variety of electronic components and board assemblies.
  • Experience identifying common solder defects, including:
    • Bridging
    • Cold solder joints
    • Tombstoning
    • Insufficient wetting
    • Voids
  • Ability to read and understand assembly documentation and engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or previous IPC-A-610 certification.
  • Experience with:
    • AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
    • Microscopes
    • Reflow ovens
    • Hot air rework equipment
    • Wave solder machines
  • Experience working with mixed-technology boards.
  • Knowledge of lead-free and RoHS-compliant manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and manufacturing quality metrics.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work with small electronic components and perform detailed inspection work.
