After-School Theatre Instructor

Part-Time | W-2 | 20-30/hour | Bexley Area

Chambers Music Studio is seeking an engaging and dependable After-School Theatre Instructor to lead a Friday theatre program for students in 3rd–8th grade at a partner school in the Bexley area.

This position is ideal for a theatre educator, teaching artist, actor, director, musical theatre performer, or educator who enjoys helping young people develop confidence and creativity through theatre.

Schedule

Fridays, 3:30–4:30 PM

The program is divided into three themed sessions throughout the school year:

November 2–December 18

Introduction to Acting

Students will explore foundational acting skills through theatre games, improvisation, character development, movement, storytelling, ensemble-building, and introductory scene work.

January–February

Introduction to Musical Theatre

Students will explore the combination of acting, music, movement, and storytelling through character work, acting through song, ensemble activities, movement, and introductory musical theatre repertoire.

March–April

Introduction to Playwriting: Write Your Own Play

Students will explore how an idea becomes a script through character development, dialogue, conflict, story structure, scene writing, and collaborative storytelling.

Paid preparation time is included in addition to teaching hours.

What You'll Do

• Lead a weekly theatre class for students in 3rd–8th grade.
  
• Lead acting exercises, improvisation, theatre games, movement, storytelling, character work, and ensemble activities.
  
• Create an environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks.
  
• Help students develop confidence, creativity, communication, collaboration, and stage presence.
  
• Maintain clear expectations and effective classroom management.
  
• Adapt activities for different ages and experience levels.
  
• Prepare materials and review curriculum during paid preparation time.
  
• Communicate professionally with school staff and the Chambers Music Studio team.
  
• Arrive prepared, dependable, and on time.
  

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates have experience in theatre, acting, directing, musical theatre, theatre education, education, youth programming, or a related performing arts field.

We're looking for someone who can bring energy and creativity into the room while maintaining structure and helping students work together as an ensemble.

Experience working with children or teens is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Support

This is a part-time W-2 position. Starting pay is generally 20–30 per hour, depending on education, experience, and training.
