How you''ll contribute to our mission

At Frontline Education, our team members shape the experience of the people who create products and services for educators nationwide. As a AI Ops Engineer, you will help build and scale a high impact AI engineering capability within our SaaS Engineering organization. Working alongside the AI / Cloud Operations Lead, you will design, build, and deliver AI powered engineering solutions that improve cloud operations, automation, release engineering, and developer productivity while helping shape the future direction of our AI engineering practice.

This is a highly autonomous role where you will help define solutions, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to a rapidly evolving portfolio of AI and cloud initiatives. You will leverage AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Codex as a standard part of your development workflow while maintaining accountability for the quality, security, and reliability of everything you deliver.

How you''ll drive success

• Design, build, test, deploy, and continuously improve AI and cloud operations solutions from concept through production.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
• Develop high quality, maintainable code while providing thoughtful peer code reviews.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate software development while ensuring every change is thoroughly reviewed and validated.
• Build solutions that prioritize governance, auditability, and least privilege security principles.
• Evaluate security, operational, cost, and cross system impacts before implementing changes.
• Clearly communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Help improve engineering practices, documentation, and technical standards across the team.
• Contribute to the team''s long term growth and evolution as AI capabilities continue to expand.

What you bring to help us grow

• Five or more years of professional software engineering experience developing production quality applications.
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants as part of a modern software development workflow.
• Strong cybersecurity mindset with an emphasis on least privilege access, secure development, and data protection.
• Experience collaborating within Agile software development teams.
• Strong proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Self motivated with the ability to independently prioritize and drive work to completion.
• Strong written documentation and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor technical discussions to different audiences.
• Passion for engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering meaningful business outcomes.

What you''ll need to thrive

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly private, isolated, or sandboxed environments.
• Experience building or supporting AI agents, orchestration frameworks, or AI governance solutions.
• Experience designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, approval processes, or audit logging capabilities.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or other enterprise relational database platforms.
• Exposure to platform engineering, observability, deployment automation, or engineering maturity initiatives.
• Comfort working in an asynchronous, documentation first engineering culture.
• Desire to grow into future technical leadership opportunities such as Lead Engineer or Staff AI Engineer.

• A competitive starting salary of $145,000-$165,000 a year plus bonus
