Job Title: Air Import Coordinator Location: Erlanger, KY Job Type: Full-Time Department: Air Freight / Import Operations Reports To: Import Manager / Operations Supervisor
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Air Import Coordinator to join our logistics operations team in Erlanger, KY. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of international air import shipments, ensuring timely and compliant movement of goods from origin to destination. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate international air import shipments from origin to final destination
Arrange cargo bookings and manage relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, and trucking partners
Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete, including commercial invoices, packing lists, airway bills, and arrival notices
Submit entries to U.S. Customs and ensure compliance with all import regulations and partner government agency requirements (FDA, USDA, etc.)
Monitor and track shipment status, providing timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders
Resolve issues related to delays, holds, or discrepancies with customs, carriers, or terminals
Maintain accurate files and data in the transportation management system (TMS) and other internal databases
Collaborate with customs brokers and internal compliance teams to ensure adherence to import laws and company policies
Prepare and distribute invoices, track costs, and support billing and accounting processes as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in logistics, international business, or related field preferred
2+ years of experience in air import operations, freight forwarding, or related logistics environment
Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and documentation procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with Cargowise, Descartes, or similar TMS is a plus
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Working Conditions:
Office-based role in Erlanger, KY, with standard weekday business hours
Occasional overtime may be required based on volume and shipment urgency
Must be able to sit, use a computer, and communicate by phone and email for extended periods
