About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
Air Quality Project Director to lead and grow a successful environmental consulting practice.
This is a
senior, client-facing leadership role for an environmental consultant who brings both deep technical expertise and a strong commercial mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing client relationships, generating new business, leading complex air quality projects, and mentoring a high-performing technical team.
This opportunity is particularly well suited for a
Principal, Director, Partner, practice leader, or consulting business owner who has built a strong reputation in the environmental industry and maintains an established network of clients.
What You'll Do
Own and grow a book of business across key industrial and commercial markets
Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with clients, prospects, regulators, and industry partners
Identify, pursue, and win new environmental consulting opportunities
Lead complex air quality and environmental consulting engagements from proposal through completion
Provide senior technical guidance on air permitting, compliance, emissions, reporting, and regulatory matters
Oversee project managers and technical professionals while supporting their development and advancement
Develop proposals, scopes, budgets, and client presentations
Manage project economics, revenue, utilization, and profitability
Expand existing accounts by identifying opportunities for additional consulting services
Represent the organization at industry events, professional associations, and stakeholder forums
Partner with senior leadership to shape business strategy, market growth, and service development
Areas of Expertise
Projects may include:
State and federal air permitting, including
Title V
Air quality regulatory compliance
Emissions calculations and modeling
Greenhouse Gas reporting
Emissions inventories
Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting
Regulatory applicability and permitting analyses
Environmental compliance assessments and audits
Industrial air quality consulting and regulatory strategy
What We're Looking For
10+ years of environmental consulting experience, with significant air quality experience
Bachelor's degree in
Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
Master's degree and/or
P.E. or other relevant professional certification preferred
Demonstrated success in
business development and client relationship management
Established relationships within industrial, manufacturing, energy, refining, chemical, oil & gas, or related markets
Experience leading complex consulting projects and multidisciplinary teams
Strong understanding of state and federal environmental regulations
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, revenue, and profitability
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with project management and financial tracking tools preferred

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 + 25%+ bonus potential
