Job Description and Duties

Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable older Californians? Are you looking for an opportunity to travel across the state and make an impact that truly matters?

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking critical thinkers who also have a positive attitude, are motivated, and work with a high degree of independence.

Our unit partners with eleven food banks to provide USDA foods to vulnerable older people throughout California. This unit provides oversight to the food banks to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations.

The work entails entering data into a federal database, monitoring inventory, ordering food, providing training and technical assistance to the food banks, interpreting and writing policy and letters, and conducting on-site visits of the food banks to ensure compliance. A meaningful aspect of this program is traveling to the food banks and witnessing the impact this food has on the participants.

If you enjoy collaborating, working with numbers, and finding ways to streamline processes to make them more efficient, this is the perfect position for you. We offer flexible schedules.

Some travel required: (up to 25%) depending on the specific assignments.

Please note: A Statement of Qualifications must be submitted along with your application to be considered for this position. Please see the "Special Requirements" section for Statement of Qualifications instructions.

The Department of Social Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
