The Anesthesia Technician team at St. Louis Children's Hospital plays an essential role in supporting safe and efficient patient care in the operating room.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in nursing, medical school, anesthesia programs, or other healthcare career paths who want exposure to a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of anesthesia equipment.
• Stock and organize anesthesia supplies.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
• Provide technical support to the Department of Anesthesia.
• Assist anesthesia providers as directed to support patient care and operating room efficiency.

Schedule Options

Weekend Option

• Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every weekend required

Alternative Scheduling Options

• 40 hours per week:

• Two 8-hour weekday shifts

• Two 12-hour weekend shifts

• OR 36 hours per week:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides skilled assistance to anesthesiology providers, such as assisting with special procedures, preparing equipment and supplies and providing medications for use by anesthesiologists.

Responsibilities

Prepares IV, central lines, and sets up transducers. Assists with rapid infusion of blood products, processes blood specimens, and completes EKG tests.Sets up, primes, and calibrates various equipment. Completes and documents quality checks on various equipment.Assists with special procedures to include, but not limited to, line-placement, fiber optic intubation, hemodilutions, echocardiograms, EEGs and regional anesthesia.
