ANIMAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN I

General Responsibilities:

This position works in an animal research environment and requires regular exposure to laboratory animals, animal housing areas, cleaning agents, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The role involves physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving supplies and equipment throughout the workday. Weekend, holiday, and rotating schedule coverage may be required to ensure continuous animal care operations. Employees must complete required training and comply with all institutional, safety, and regulatory requirements related to animal care and research support. Success in this position requires a commitment to teamwork, dependability, attention to detail, and animal welfare.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Feeding and watering animals.

2. Cleaning and sanitizing animal housing areas.

3. Monitoring animal health and well-being.

4. Maintaining accurate records.

5. Assisting with routine animal care procedures.

6. Hands-on work in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow established protocols and safety procedures. Successful candidates will be.

7. Comfortable working around laboratory animals and animal-related materials.

8. Performing physically active duties such as lifting, standing, walking, and moving equipment throughout the workday.

9. Comprehensive training is provided, and employees are encouraged to pursue professional development opportunities, including laboratory animal science certifications.
