Job Title: Animal Technician

Location(s): San Francisco, CA


Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and independent Animal Husbandry Technician to support laboratory animal care operations. This position is focused primarily on animal husbandry and facility maintenance rather than direct veterinary or clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and maintain animal cages, enclosures, and surrounding facility areas.
• Feed and provide water to animals according to established schedules and procedures.
• Monitor basic environmental conditions and report any concerns.
• Maintain accurate animal care, cleaning, and facility records/logs.
• Support the cleanliness, organization, and general upkeep of the animal facility.
• Follow established safety, sanitation, animal care, and facility procedures.
• Work independently while maintaining consistent standards of care and documentation.
• Provide coverage at another facility location when operationally required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of training equivalent to the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification through AALAS.
• At least 1 year of animal care or animal husbandry experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and schedules.
• Ability to work the required weekend schedule with an early morning start.

Important Requirement
Full medical clearance is required for all candidates, regardless of whether the position is onsite, hybrid, or remote, in accordance with facility policy.

Schedule:

• Saturdays & Sundays, start time between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM.

Location:

• Primarily onsite; may be required to provide coverage at another facility location as needed.
