Location: Oxon Hill, MD (Hybrid)
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 annually
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist (AP/AR) to join their growing finance team. This role will support both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions while assisting with general accounting activities and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This position offers an opportunity to work closely with a supportive accounting team while gaining exposure to a variety of financial processes including invoicing, reconciliations, vendor management, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate coding, approvals, and documentation
- Execute vendor payments and maintain accurate payment records
- Maintain vendor profiles and related documentation
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies
- Prepare and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances
- Apply client payments and reconcile AR accounts
- Collaborate internally to resolve billing discrepancies and support project setup
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Maintain accounting documentation and support internal controls
- Assist with audit requests and financial reporting processes
- Support payroll processing and expense reporting as needed
- Generate reports and assist with ad hoc financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Qualifications:
- 1–2+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or general accounting
- Experience with Netsuite
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and GAAP principles
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, reporting, and reconciliations
- Experience with invoice processing, billing, reconciliations, and vendor payments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with accounting systems such as Unanet or QuickBooks
- Experience working in a consulting or services-based environment
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
