About Our Applicant Pool

The School District of New Berlin is seeking dedicated and student-centered Special Education Educators (Cross-Categorical) to join our elementary teaching teams. By applying to this continuous applicant pool, you are expressing interest in current and future openings across our elementary schools (Elmwood, Orchard Lane, Poplar Creek and Ronald Reagan) for Kindergarten through 6th Grade. In this role, you will develop and implement specially designed instruction for primary learners who possess a variety of diverse needs and impairment categories. You will utilize inclusive practices through a co-serving instructional model, fostering a vibrant and supportive environment where every child can achieve academic and social-emotional growth.

Candidates must demonstrate consistent proficiency in the following components:

Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

• Individualized Instruction: Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small-group instruction by adapting the district-approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil while maintaining high expectations.

• Outcome-Driven Design: Cause successful learning related to school, program, and course goals, as determined by appropriate local, state, and national assessments.

Domain 2: Classroom Environment

• Student Rapport: Establish and maintain rapport with pupils to ensure an effective learning atmosphere.

• Intellectual Growth: Cause greater confidence, feelings of efficacy, and intellectual direction in learners.

• Clear Communication: Communicate academic and behavioral expectations clearly to students and parents.

Domain 3: Instruction

• Engagement & Interest: Generate a higher level of engagement and interest in the subject matter and professional growth than previously existed, as validated by observations, surveys, and stakeholder feedback.

• Timely Feedback: Provide specific, timely feedback to individuals regarding their progress and mastery of core concepts and objectives.

• Technology Integration: Utilize a strong working knowledge of technologies appropriate to the educational process to enhance student learning.

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

• Collaborative Data Analysis: Serve as an active member of a collaborative team to analyze and respond to data, including the use of district-adopted student management and data mining systems.

• Professional Collaboration: Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues, utilizing strong team-building skills.

• Parental Engagement: Effectively communicate with parents in various ways (e.g., website, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences).

• District Representation: Engage in life-long learning and positively represent the district at all times with a commitment to public service.
