Application Developer III - Java & SQL

Location: Hybrid (1 day/week onsite) - Local candidates only

Department: HMO Enterprise Support

Experience Required: 5+ Years

Position Summary

• We are seeking an experienced Application Developer III to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications within a fast-paced Agile environment. This role requires strong hands-on experience with modern Java development, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL, stored procedures, and REST API development. The ideal candidate will also have experience leveraging AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve code quality, testing, documentation, and overall development efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Java and the Spring framework.
• Design and support Spring Boot and Spring Batch applications, including batch-processing solutions.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance issues.
• Design and build RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and application support activities.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and modern software development best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software/application development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern Java development.
• Experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience developing and supporting Spring Batch applications.
• Advanced SQL expertise, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting stored procedures.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, application architecture, and coding standards.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and source control best practices.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar platforms.
• Experience with unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and application troubleshooting.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Required Technical Skills

• Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL, Stored Procedures, REST APIs, Git/GitHub, AI Coding Tools (GitHub Copilot or similar), CI/CD, Agile/Scrum.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with enterprise healthcare applications.
• Experience supporting large-scale batch processing environments.
• Experience optimizing high-volume database applications and backend services.
