The Role Reporting to commercial leadership, the Application Engineer will serve as a critical link between customers, sales teams, engineering groups, and manufacturing operations. The position combines elements of technical sales support, application engineering, product selection, costing analysis, and quotation management. You will be responsible for evaluating customer requirements, developing technical solutions, performing equipment selection and thermal calculations, and generating accurate, commercially competitive proposals. Success in the role requires balancing engineering precision with responsiveness to customer and business needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary technical resource for customers, sales partners, and internal stakeholders throughout the quotation and proposal process.
  • Review customer specifications, engineering drawings, and project requirements to develop appropriate cooling system solutions.
  • Perform thermal calculations, equipment sizing, and application analysis using engineering software and internal design tools.
  • Prepare detailed quotations and proposals that align with technical requirements, commercial objectives, and company pricing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain costing models, pricing analyses, and proposal documentation using Excel and internal systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure solution feasibility and cost competitiveness.
  • Support spare parts, retrofit, and installed-base opportunities as needed.
  • Assist with order review processes, technical approvals, drawing submissions, and management of specification changes.
  • Track open opportunities and support sales teams in moving projects from quotation through order placement.
  • Contribute to process improvements related to proposal generation, technical reviews, costing accuracy, and customer response times.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, customer requirements, and emerging cooling technologies.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, dry coolers, condensers, fluid cooling technologies, or data center cooling applications.
  • Experience supporting RFQ processes, proposal development, technical submittals, and customer approval workflows.
  • Familiarity with CAD drawings and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, engineered-to-order products, or capital equipment environments.

Personal Attributes

  • Commercially aware and customer-focused.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of broader business objectives.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a growing and evolving organization.
  • Driven by continuous improvement and process optimization.
