The Aquatics Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring aquatic safety and regulatory compliance programs across multiple Health Clubs in several states. This position ensures all aquatic operations comply with federal, state, and local health codes, industry best practices, and organizational standards. The manager serves as the organization's Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and provides leadership in risk management, facility inspections, water quality, staff training, and operational excellence.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·        Manage compliance for multiple aquatic departments across several states. 
·        Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local aquatic health and safety regulations. 
·        Serve as the organization's Certified Pool Operator (CPO) responsible for water chemistry, filtration systems, and preventive maintenance programs. 
·        Develop and maintain standardized operating procedures for all aquatic departments. 
·        Conduct routine and unannounced compliance audits and facility inspections. 
·        Monitor pool water quality, chemical treatment programs, filtration systems, and equipment performance. 
·        Coordinate corrective actions for compliance deficiencies and track completion. 
·        Ensure aquatic departments maintain required permits, inspections, certifications, and regulatory documentation. 
·        Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses while developing corrective action plans. 
·        Develop risk management strategies to minimize liability and improve operational safety. 
·        Train and mentor aquatic managers, maintenance staff, and lifeguards on compliance standards and best practices. 
·        Maintain emergency action plans and coordinate emergency preparedness drills. 
·        Oversee vendor compliance related to aquatic chemicals, maintenance contractors, and equipment service providers. 
·        Monitor changes in aquatic regulations across multiple states and implement required operational updates. 
·        Assist with budgeting for compliance initiatives, capital improvements, and aquatic equipment replacement. 
·        Prepare reports for executive leadership regarding compliance performance, audit results, and regulatory updates. 
·        Travel regularly to conduct facility assessments, inspections, and staff training. 
 
Required Qualifications
·        Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification (required). 
·        Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Environmental Health, Public Health, Facilities Management, Safety Management, or related field (preferred). 
·        Five or more years of progressive aquatic management experience. 
·        Experience managing compliance across multiple locations or multi-state operations. 
·        Strong knowledge of: 
o   Pool chemistry 
o   Filtration systems 
o   Water treatment 
o   Aquatic risk management 
o   Health department regulations 
o   OSHA standards 
o   ADA accessibility requirements 
·        Experience conducting audits and regulatory inspections. 
·        Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills. 
·        Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. 
·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software. 
·        Valid driver's license with the ability to travel frequently. 
 
Preferred Certifications
·        Certified Pool Operator (CPO) 
·        Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) 
·        Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) 
·        Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (preferred) 
·        CPR, First Aid, and AED Instructor certifications 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
·        Extensive understanding of multi-state regulatory compliance. 
·        Knowledge of CDC Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) principles. 
·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
·        Ability to interpret regulations and implement operational policies. 
·        Experience managing inspections and corrective action programs. 
·        Ability to train teams and build a culture of safety and accountability. 
·        Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
·        Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines. 
 
Working Conditions
·        Travel to Health Clubs across assigned states. 
·        Indoor and outdoor work environments. 
·        Exposure to pool chemicals, mechanical equipment, and varying weather conditions. 
·        Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. 
·        Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform facility inspections requiring walking, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
