Description

Job Title: Mid-Level Architect / Project ArchitectJob Description

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a mid-level architect to take on a key technical and design-focused position supporting complex embassy campus projects around the world. You will bridge the gap between emerging professionals and senior project leadership by contributing to schematic design, leading Revit-based documentation, coordinating with consultants, and mentoring junior team members. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both design and technical project delivery and is looking to gain greater project ownership and technical leadership experience on globally significant, high-profile government and international work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive construction document sets using Revit across all phases of design and documentation.
  • Produce detailed drawing packages from schematic design through construction documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Assist with drawing set organization, detailing, and technical coordination to support efficient project delivery.
  • Incorporate redlines and project updates efficiently while maintaining established quality standards.
  • Coordinate architectural drawings with engineering and other consultant disciplines to deliver a fully integrated set of documents.
  • Support quality control efforts by reviewing drawings and helping identify coordination issues prior to major project milestones.
  • Support project teams throughout schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases.
  • Assist Project Architects and Project Managers with day-to-day project delivery tasks and technical execution.
  • Participate in design discussions and contribute to design solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, constructability, and project goals.
  • Collaborate closely with junior and senior team members to maintain project schedules, meet deadlines, and achieve project deliverables.
  • Share knowledge and provide informal guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff to support their professional growth.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants and internal project teams to resolve technical and design-related challenges.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and project planning discussions to align scope, schedule, and deliverables across disciplines.
  • Communicate project updates clearly and coordinate deliverables across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to early design concepts and help translate design intent into coordinated, high-quality construction documents for embassy and international projects.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s or Master"s degree in Architecture.
  • 5-7+ years of professional architectural experience.
  • Strong experience in schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in Revit, including experience producing coordinated construction document sets for commercial or institutional projects.
  • Ability to perform design changes and updates in Revit as needed during design and documentation phases.
  • Experience with construction documents and construction administration processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to review drawings and identify coordination issues across disciplines.
  • Strong architectural design skills and familiarity with design development workflows.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain project documentation quality.
  • Interest in mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
  • Experience with institutional, federal, civic, international, or embassy-related projects is a plus.
  • Experience supporting high-profile government or federal projects is beneficial.
  • Interest in obtaining a Secret security clearance and working on secure government projects.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to contribute to early design concepts and design problem-solving efforts.
  • Interest in pursuing technical Project Architect or Project Manager career paths, including professional registration.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with heavy project backlogs and multiple concurrent deadlines.

Work Environment

The work environment is casual, inclusive, and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and professional growth. The firm recently moved into a brand-new office space and is encouraging teams to be in the office 2-4 days per week, with an expectation that staff work diligently to support a heavy backlog of work and numerous active projects. Team members participate in regular office events, including monthly social activities such as team sports and gatherings, fostering a friendly and supportive culture. The office hosts weekly lunch-and-learn sessions, where lunches are provided and staff can deepen their technical knowledge and design expertise. The role offers opportunities for overtime hours when project demands require, as well as the chance to work on high-profile government and federal projects that may involve obtaining a Secret security clearance. You will also have the opportunity to support varied international projects, including potential travel to project sites. An official mentoring program ensures that each new team member is paired with a mentor to help them pursue their chosen path, whether focused on technical Project Architect responsibilities, project management, or professional registration.
