    2. Leadership and Employee Development

Supervise, coach, and develop approximately 20-30 employees, including branch managers and other branch personnel.

Conduct branch visits, employee meetings, performance reviews, and leadership coaching sessions.

Identify training needs and support employee development, succession planning, and internal promotion opportunities.

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention of qualified employees.

Address employee performance concerns promptly and consistently in accordance with company policy.

Build a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    3. Branch Operations and Compliance

Ensure all branches follow company policies, operating procedures, internal controls, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Conduct regular branch audits, operational reviews, and file reviews to verify accuracy, documentation, and compliance.

Ensure loan applications, underwriting decisions, account documentation, cash handling, and recordkeeping meet company standards.

Monitor compliance with applicable consumer lending, fair lending, privacy, debt collection, and consumer protection requirements.

Identify operational risks, policy violations, and control weaknesses, and implement corrective action as needed.

Escalate significant compliance concerns, suspected fraud, and other material risks to the appropriate company leadership.

    4. Collections and Portfolio Management

Monitor delinquency, charge-offs, recoveries, and other portfolio performance indicators across the district.

Ensure branch managers maintain consistent collection practices and follow approved company procedures.

Review collection performance and establish corrective action plans when results fall below expectations.

Support branches in resolving challenging accounts and improving repayment performance.

Balance collection effectiveness with professional, respectful, and legally compliant customer treatment.

Monitor portfolio quality and encourage responsible lending decisions that support long-term performance.

    5. Customer Service and Community Relationships

Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism throughout the district.

Respond to escalated customer concerns and ensure timely, appropriate resolution.

Promote customer retention, repeat business, and positive relationships within the communities served.

Ensure employees communicate loan terms, payment obligations, and account information accurately and transparently.

Represent Wallace Finance Companies positively in local markets and community relationships.

    6. District Management and Communication

Establish a consistent schedule of branch visits based on performance, business needs, and operational risk.

Communicate company initiatives, policy updates, performance expectations, and operational priorities to branch teams.

Provide regular district performance reports, forecasts, and updates to regional or corporate leadership.

Participate in management meetings, training sessions, and company initiatives.

Coordinate staffing, employee coverage, and operational support across locations when necessary.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency.

    Performance Expectations

The Area Supervisor will be evaluated based on the district's overall performance, including:

Achievement of loan production, revenue, and profitability goals.

Collection effectiveness, delinquency management, and portfolio quality.

Branch-level operational performance and adherence to company standards.

Compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Employee productivity, engagement, development, and retention.

Customer service quality and resolution of escalated concerns.

Completion of branch visits, audits, performance reviews, and required reporting.

Improvement in underperforming branches and consistency of results across the district.

    Qualifications and Experience

Previous management experience in consumer finance, installment lending, financial services, retail operations, or a comparable multi-location business.

Demonstrated ability to lead employees, develop managers, and manage multiple locations simultaneously.

Strong understanding of loan origination, credit evaluation, collections, delinquency management, and portfolio performance.

Experience reviewing financial reports, analyzing performance metrics, and developing business improvement plans.

Knowledge of applicable lending regulations, compliance requirements, and internal control procedures.

Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities, travel between branch locations, and work independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company reporting or loan management systems.

    Leadership Competencies

    The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Accountability: Takes ownership of district results and follows through on commitments.

Leadership: Sets clear expectations and leads by example.

Coaching: Develops employees and builds a strong pipeline of future leaders.

Business Acumen: Understands financial performance, portfolio risk, and operational efficiency.

Communication: Provides clear direction and maintains productive relationships with employees and leadership.

Integrity: Upholds ethical business practices, customer confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Adaptability: Responds effectively to changing business needs and performance challenges.

    Work Environment and Travel

This position requires regular travel between assigned branch locations, with occasional overnight travel depending on district geography. The Area Supervisor must be comfortable working in branch environments, conducting on-site reviews, meeting with employees, and responding to operational needs. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, subject to company policy.

    Overall Responsibility

The Area Supervisor is accountable for developing a high-performing district in which each branch operates efficiently, employees are properly trained and supported, customers receive professional service, and business objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance, sound lending practices, and the standards of Wallace Finance Companies.

    Recommended additions before finalizing

For a stronger internal job description, I would clarify three things:

Authority: Whether the Area Supervisor directly manages branch managers, approves personnel decisions, and has authority over hiring, discipline, and terminations.

Travel expectations: Whether the role requires daily travel, weekly branch visits, or overnight stays.

Performance accountability: Whether the role is measured primarily on loan growth, collections, profitability, delinquency, or a balanced scorecard.

I would also recommend keeping the 10-15 stores and 20-30 employees explicitly in the position description. That establishes the scope of responsibility and helps distinguish this position from a single-branch manager role.
